The Personal Student Learning Unit, hereafter referred to as ‘PSLU,’ is a registered non-profit organization that was founded in the year 2007, by the recently deceased –Ms. Reva Arneaud (Dec 3rd 2015); the institution is currently governed by Ms. Avernel Greenidge, who serves as Executive Director/Principal/Manager. PSLU is an institution dedicated to educational and social development, for a better quality of life. Using a combination of both traditional and unconventional teaching styles and approaches, we provide: academic, creative, personal and social development programmes for individuals to use as empowerment tools. We help individuals address their past and current circumstances, which would consequently determine their future life events.
In keeping with our mission – ‘To foster progressive mindsets in individuals from disadvantaged communities which would give rise to an evolution from their present social situations’; PSLU opens its doors to mainly the members of the neighbouring schools and parents within the community of South East Port-of-Spain and environs. South East Port-of-Spain, in Trinidad and Tobago, is deemed as an impoverished community; where crime is high and the residents are faced with many odds. With the education level being quite low and unemployment becoming a cultural and generational cycle for some people; PSLU brings much needed hope to many homes.
